Bristol is a city bursting with creativity, history, and a thriving food scene. If you’re planning a weekend getaway, this 48-hour itinerary covers the best things to do, where to eat, and how to make the most of your time in this vibrant city.

Day 1: History, Culture & Waterfront Views
Morning: Christmas Steps & St Nicholas Market
Start your Bristol adventure with a wander through the Christmas Steps, a charming medieval alleyway filled with the cutest independent shops, galleries, and all the historic character. From there, make your way to St Nicholas Market, a bustling hub of street food stalls and boutique shopping. It’s the perfect place to browse for unique finds and sample delicious bites from around the world.
Top Tip: Visit St Nicholas Market around mid-morning to avoid the lunchtime crowds and get first dibs on your favourite food!
Brunch at The Flour House
After exploring, head to The Flour House for brunch. Their pastries and specialty coffee are a must-try, and make sure to book ahead just in case!



Midday: Bristol Museum & Banksy’s Street Art
Head to the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery and immerse yourself in art and history – where you’ll find an eclectic mix of exhibits, from Egyptian artifacts to stunning paintings. As you make your way through the city, keep an eye out for Banksy’s street art, as Bristol is the hometown of this world-famous artist.

Afternoon: Arnolfini & Harbourside Relaxation
Next stop – the Arnolfini, a contemporary arts center that showcases cutting-edge exhibitions and performances. After exploring the exhibitions, take a stroll along the Bristol Harbourside, a vibrant area filled with cafes, bars, and scenic waterfront views. Grab a drink at one of the harborside pubs and soak in the atmosphere.
Evening: Waterside Dining & Drinks
For dinner, enjoy a meal with scenic waterside views at one of Bristol’s popular harborside restaurants. Whether you’re in the mood for seafood, modern British cuisine, or international flavors, there’s something for everyone!
Recommendation: Try Paco Tapas, a Michelin-starred restaurant serving incredible Spanish dishes. Make sure to book ahead!


Day 2: Clifton, Boutiques & Scenic Views
Morning: Clifton Suspension Bridge & Coffee Stop
Start your second day with a walk across the Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol’s iconic landmark, offering stunning views over the Avon Gorge. Follow this with a coffee break or Brunch at a cozy Clifton café, such as Foliage!
Top Tip: Head to Observatory Hill for a unreal panoramic views of the bridge—perfect for photos!
Midday: Shopping & Sunday Lunch
Spend some time exploring Clifton’s independent boutiques and stores. Don’t miss the Clifton Arcade, a hidden gem filled with vintage finds, artisan crafts, and specialty stores. If you’re visiting on a Sunday, make sure to head to Bar44 and order the Spanish style Sunday roast!



Afternoon: Relax & Soak in the City
After lunch, take a relaxed approach to your final hours in Bristol. Whether it’s revisiting a favourite spot, taking a Bristol Ferry Boat for a scenic ride along the river, or unwinding in one of Clifton’s picturesque parks, enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of this unique city. Or if your feeling up to it you can take a quick drive to Castle Combe and explore the stunning picturesque houses.

Evening: Sunset Drinks & Final Dinner
Wrap up your Bristol adventure with sunset drinks at The White Lion Bar at the Hotel Du Vin, where you’ll get incredible views of the Clifton Suspension Bridge. For your final meal, head to The Clifton Sausage, a restaurant famous for its locally sourced sausages and classic British dishes.
